Biography
Anson Stager was a prominent railroad executive and innovator in the late 19th century, best known for his work with the Western Union Telegraph Company and later as general superintendent of the Illinois Central Railroad. He pioneered telegraph and railroad communication systems, becoming one of the most influential figures in American transportation infrastructure. Stager was also involved in civic improvements and served as an advisor to railroad magnates of his era.
