Biography
George Gordon Meade was a prominent Union general who achieved lasting fame as the commander of the Army of the Potomac during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863. A career military officer and engineer, Meade demonstrated exceptional tactical skill and leadership throughout the Civil War, earning the respect of both his superiors and subordinates.
