Biography
Henry Wilson was an American politician and abolitionist who served as Vice President of the United States under President Ulysses S. Grant from 1873 until his death in 1875. Rising from humble origins as a shoemaker in Massachusetts, Wilson became a prominent Republican leader and served in both the House of Representatives and Senate. He was a passionate advocate for the abolition of slavery and civil rights, and remained active in political reform movements throughout his career.
