John Logan

Biography

John Alexander Logan was a Union general and prominent Republican politician who served in both the House and Senate after the Civil War. During the conflict, he rose from colonel to major general, earning the nickname 'Black Jack' for his aggressive tactics and leadership of the XV Corps. Logan was instrumental in Reconstruction politics and later served as Vice President under James Garfield.
