Biography

Rufus King was an American statesman, diplomat, and military officer who had a distinguished career spanning the late 18th and early 19th centuries. He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, served as a U.S. Senator from New York, and held diplomatic posts including Minister to Great Britain. King was also commissioned as a general during the War of 1812 and remained influential in Federalist politics throughout his career.
